Downloading Statements

When applying for a loan, it's standard practice to provide three months of bank statements and income verification. This isn't to scrutinise your spending habits – just making sure all financial details are accurate.

The process is straightforward, but if you encounter difficulties, here are step-by-step guides for major banks and the IRD.

ANZ:

  • Go to ANZ's website and sign in to your online banking.

  • Navigate to the 'Documents' section.

  • Use the dropdown menus to filter your statements and click 'Search'.

  • Select the desired statement by checking the box next to it, then click 'Download'. ANZ requires statements to be downloaded per account, so handle each separately.

  • A PDF preview will appear; choose 'Save As' or 'Download' to store the statement.

  • Click on 'Menu' and select 'Documents' at the bottom.

  • In the 'Document Centre', filter statements by time period, document type, or account.

  • Choose the statement you wish to view.

  • A PDF preview will open; click 'Download' to save it.

BNZ:

  • Go to BNZ's website and sign into your online banking.

  • Click on 'Menu' and select 'Documents'.

  • Choose 'Statements' and then select the relevant account.

  • Pick the statement you want to view.

  • A PDF preview will appear; click 'Save As' or 'Download' to store it. For Mac users without Adobe Reader, right-click the statement and select 'Open with Preview' to download as a PDF.

Kiwibank:

  • Go to Kiwibank's website and log into your online banking.

  • Click on the 'Statement Vault' on the right side.

  • Click the 'Download' button next to each statement you wish to access.

  • On the preview page, click 'Download' to save the statements.

  • If the PDF doesn't automatically save, a preview page will open; click 'Download' to store the statement.

Westpac:

  • Go to Westpac's website and sign into your online banking.

  • Select the account for which you want statements.

  • Click 'Download Statements' on the right.

  • Set your date range and click 'View Statements'.

  • Choose the statement to view.

  • If the PDF doesn't automatically save, a preview page will open; click 'Download' to store it.

Obtaining Your IRD Tax Summary for Income Verification:

  • To provide proof of income through the Inland Revenue Department:

  • Log in to myIR.

  • Navigate to the 'Income tax' section and click 'More...'.

  • Go to 'My Income' and select 'Print income details'.

  • Choose the 'Last income tax year' option, then print or download the document.

  • For previous years, select 'Other' and specify the relevant dates (e.g., the 2024 tax year spans from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024).

  • If you don't have a myIR account, contact the IRD at 0800 775 247 to request a summary of income.
